Here you are. Sitting at your desk, reading a blog title that would make any marketing manager squirm.
“What’s this,” you may be asking yourself, “a treatise on how to make people uncomfortable?” How can that possibly be good… and what’s the angle for us? Will Microsoft software cause me pain? Are you threatening me with financial, physical, or emotional pain?
We know what you’re expecting. “Switch to Digilink and everything will be wonderful, the sun will always shine and good fortune will follow you everywhere!” Well perhaps… but I wouldn’t bank on it. (Our lawyers insist that even the fine print must not promise sunny weather. We are based in London, after all.)
But then again, that’s what software is all about. There are good things and bad things. Winners and losers. Yin and yang. We’re not saying that choosing, say… Microsoft OneDrive was a bad idea. We’d hate to be guilty of inflicting emotional pain by suggesting you made a bad choice. And let’s just take physical pain off the table all around, shall we? That leaves financial pain… and perhaps, just perhaps, we can save you some of that.
Right, everyone stand up. Now then, if you never use metadata… please sit down. If you’ve never searched for files on or offline, sit down. And if you’ve never wanted a clear interface to tell you exactly what’s going on in your carefully choreographed Office365 networked world and never, ever, privately or otherwise, bitched about OneDrive doing stuff without you knowing what it was up to… then by all means, please sit down. Still standing? Come right this way.
Call us a one-trick-pony if you must… but our trick is truly magical. Our interface is invisible… until you want to know something. And surely, knowledge, as they say, is what it is all about.
The Easier365 interface provides you with some powerful, pain-relieving advantages.
Type a file name into the search bar. Or even some company metadata. You’ll get an immediate response. You’ll know if the file is local, or if it only exists in the Office365 cloud. Even if you’re offline and haven’t synchronised the file… which itself is a pain unlike many others.
Your colleague has uploaded a file called “Report1.doc”. Thanks, Bob… really imaginative. If you want to know where they put it, you can look in folder after folder or library after library. Or Easier365 can just show you where all the recently-added files have been hidden.
Your Metadata, Your Way
Each file’s metadata is just one click away. Read it…Write it…Delete it. It’s your file, your metadata, you choose.
“But wait,” I can hear you say, “we don’t even use metadata!” Oh, but you do. For example, the file name. And there’s ‘Last modified by Bob.’ And that’s before we get to the clever stuff, like ‘Client Name,’ ‘Contract Name,’ ‘Date Created,’ ‘Retention Date,’ etc. All of it is editable and searchable, right from the interface.
The Cleansing Power of Check Boxes
And then there’s that one itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny little check box:
Not much to look at on its own, is it? But when you see it in your interface, snuggled neatly next to the file name, you can instantly know whether you have that file on your hard drive with you.
Then again, maybe you enjoy pain. We’re not here to judge. There are plenty of people who seem genuinely happy screaming “OneDrive! What on earth are you doingback there?!?” in the middle of the workday.
To each their own. We’d rather live pain-free, knowing exactly where each file lives, who put it there, and when they last saved it. That’s the curative power of Easier 365 – the freedom to conquer our pain, and find something else in the world to bitch about.
Heaven knows there’s plenty out there to choose from.
